Add FollowSymLinks option to /images .htaccess rule This makes sure that thumbnails load properly. Apparently (in OSX at least), if you don't have FollowSymLinks or SymLinksIfOwnerMatch on, loading thumbnails gives a 500 error with the existing rewrite rules in place.
