The existing message 'sharedupload' does not has a link to the shared repository. A lot of WMF projects has modified it locally but for their content language only.
That means, all users with another user language does not profit from the modification.

New message 'shareduploadwiki-desc' introduced. This can be set to '-' by local sysops to suppress the message if 'sharedupload' has a link already.
* Used the new functions in the relevant places throughout the core. Where this was not possible, used wfMsgNoTrans() to avoid double-parsing.
* Calling wfEscapeWikiText() on a title before passing it to a message is unnecessary and causes bugs. The best idea is to let the message do its own escaping. Removed wfEscapeWikiText() from the caller of addedwatchtext, removedwatchtext, deletedtext, protect-text, nosuchusershort and movepage-moved. Updated all message files to use <nowiki>$1</nowiki> where appropriate in these messages.
* Removed unnecessary empty message handling from semiprotectedpagewarning
* Removed nonsense warning about the output of wfMsg() not being safe for inclusion in HTML.
* Changed wfShellExec() to use passthru/ob_get_contents instead of exec(). This avoids corruption of whitespace in the response.
* Added $wgValidateAllHtml feature, to optionally validate HTML on output.
* Fixed missing newline in cascadeprotected in MessagesEn.php
* Belatedly updated addedwatchtext to take account of the new "monobook" skin. No unwatch link in the sidebar anymore.
Also replace some odd hardcoded robot policies (for Special:Specialpages and for nonexistent images) with 'noindex,nofollow', which seems more
appropriate at least for the latter. I'm not quite sure _why_ Special:Specialpages was marked as 'index,nofollow' before; it's been that way since
r1284. It might be safe to just leave it at the default setting, but I don't really think it makes much difference either way.
*Allow blocking of users to hide names
*Implement revision deletion for images/deleted files/deleted revs
*Log deletion set off for now
*Add 'hidden' file dir
*Dissallow merging via undelete (which was inefficient and hard to reverse)
*Use restore points and diffs to special:undelete
*Add a special page to merge pages
*Get changeslist to use tables to avoid ugly formatting
*Add logs into RC for rebuildrecentchanges.php
*Add private logs
*List private logs at specialpages
*Tweak/add some deletion and merge messages
* Changed display style: added a "more" link which expands a box for player selection.
* Allow return to the still image only display.
* Fixed Java detection in IE (I hope)
Elsewhere:
* Changed MediaTransformOutput::toHtml() parameters, now accepts a single associative array with well-defined elements. Allows OggHandler to distinguish between file download links and image description links.
* Made image links consistently have an anchor tag with class=image, instead of a mixture of image and internalParse.
* Made most images have a border=0 attribute, instead of just images on the image description page. Does not appear to adversely affect display at all, it was just convenient.
* Use the image name as the title attribute for the <a> tag, when an a caption was not given by the user
* Block centering by the auto margins method in ImageGallery
* Fixed complete breakage of the thumbnail on upload conflict feature
* TODO: test DjVu

* JavaScript video player based loosely on Greg Maxwell's player
* Image page text snippet customisation
* Abstraction of transform parameters in the parser. Introduced Linker::makeImageLink2().
* Made canRender(), mustRender() depend on file, not just on handler. Moved width=0, height=0 checking to ImageHandler::canRender(), since audio streams have width=height=0 but should be rendered.
Also:
* Automatic upgrade for oldimage rows on image page view, allows media handler selection based on oi_*_mime
* oi_*_mime unconditionally referenced, REQUIRES SCHEMA UPGRADE
* Don't destroy file info for missing files on upgrade
* Simple, centralised extension message file handling
* Made MessageCache::loadAllMessages non-static, optimised for repeated-call case due to abuse in User.php
* Support for lightweight parser output hooks, with callback whitelist for security
* Moved Linker::formatSize() to Language, to join the new formatTimePeriod() and formatBitrate()
* Introduced MagicWordArray, regex capture trick requires that magic word IDs DO NOT CONTAIN HYPHENS.
* Ported file delete/restore to the filerepo framework. Some user-visible changes in error reporting.
* $wgSaveDeletedFiles has been removed, the feature is now enabled unconditionally. Added a "deleted" directory for the default location, protected by a .htaccess file and the practical obscurity of content hashes.
* Fixed bug 2735: "Preview" shown in title bar for action=submit on special pages
* Removed "restore" links from the deletion log embedded in Special:Undelete
* Added img_sha1/oi_sha1 fields, preserved through upload, delete and restore
* Referenced the new oi_metadata etc. fields to preserve metadata across upload and delete/restore.
* Use rawurlencode() for paths instead of urlencode()
* Moved functionality of LocalFile::loadFromFile() to a public static function. This allows Special:Upload to entirely avoid loading metadata from the (potentially remote) store. Changed purgeMetadataCache() to use loadFromDB() instead of loadFromFile().
* Redefined private virtual URLs, giving them a repo name component instead of a host.
* Moved is_writable($wgUploadDirectory) in SpecialUpload.php to the repo
* Added some filename validation to the FSRepo's store/publish
* Changed store and publish to use relative destinations instead of absolute, as was documented
* Deprecated File::recordUpload()! Now use upload() to do both publish and record. Moved the UI bits to SpecialUpload.
* Create a null revision on reupload
* Changed most of the member variable names in UploadForm. $this->mUpload followed by some ambiguous word or abbreviation was not a good naming convention. Also did some reformatting and assorted code cleanup.
* Added support for configuration of an arbitrary number of commons-style file repositories.
* Split Image.php into filerepo/File.php and filerepo/LocalFile.php
* Renamed Image::getImagePath() to File::getPath()
* Added initial support for timestamp-based file fetching (OldLocalFile), to be expanded upon by aaron.
* Changed the interface for Image/File object creation: use wfFindFile() or wfLocalFile() depending on semantics
* ImageGallery::add() now accepts a title object as the first parameter
* Moved file handling operations on upload from SpecialUpload to File
* Removed path-related functions from ImageFunctions.php. Removed static path accessors from File.
* Added a Content-Disposition header to thumb.php output
* Improved thumb.php error handling
* Updated the unit test suite to kind of partially work with modern computers. RunTests.php doesn't work just yet. Fixed an actual regression that the test suite detected -- moved some defines to Defines.php where they will be loaded consistently.
The call to upgradeRow() in purgeMetadataCache(), indirectly called during upload, caused data for the new file to be written into the 'image' table in the database before migration from 'image' to 'oldimage'. Thus data for the new file was recorded as belonging to the old file.
Have replaced this call with a call to loadFromFile(), so the new data goes only into cache
at this time, and won't get written to the database until after.
The 'purge' action in ImagePage now explicitly calls the upgradeRow() function in addition to cache purging... is it needed elsewhere?
This whole mess still stinks of race conditions, though. Sigh.
