beb1c4a0ec phpcs: More require/include is not a function
Follows-up I1343872de7, Ia533aedf63 and I2df2f80b81.

Also updated usage in text in documentation and the
installer LocalSettingsGenerator.

Most of them were handled by this regex:
- find: (require|include|require_once|include_once)\s*\(\s*(.+?)\s*\)\s*;$
- replace: $1 $2;

652c4be7c2 Clean up: Declare variables with public instead of var
Variables in classes should be declared using public $foo
instead of var $foo for various reasons. As we require PHP 5.3
we don't have to take care about that PHP4 left over, but can
get rid of it in favour of the more clear and better readable
public.

38c7f444e1 Use __DIR__ instead of dirname( __FILE__ )
We can now do this since we finally switched to PHP 5.3 for MW 1.20 and get rid of the silly dirname(__FILE__) stuff :)

99fdc6e838 Bug 24985 use $wgTmpDirectory when available
We had two way to get a temporary directory:

 - $wgTempDirectory: more or less stable accross sessions
 - wfTempDir(): set through environnement variable and could potentially
   vary from a session to another one thanks to tempnam()

This patch makes wfTempDir() to always use the global $wgTempDirectory
first when it is available. Thus explicitly overriding tempnam() or any
environnement variable such as TMP or TEMP.

Hence, people who don't have access to a system wide directory
specificed by their environnement (such as /tmp) can specify an
alternative straight from the MediaWiki configuration.

The patch remove references to $wgTmpDirectory and replace them with
calls to wfTempDir(). Make wfTempDir() use $wgTmpDirectory first.

The default setting of $wgTmpDirectory was removed in favor of having it
initialized through Setup.php by calling wfTempDir.

Note: this may also address Bug 36475 - Generating thumbnails does not
work when there is no access to /tmp

087a9f70c5 WARNING: HUGE COMMIT
Doxygen documentation update:
* Changed alls @addtogroup to @ingroup. @addtogroup adds the comment to the group description, but doesn't add the file, class, function, ... to the group like @ingroup does. See for example http://svn.wikimedia.org/doc/group__SpecialPage.html where it's impossible to see related files, classes, ... that should belong to that group.
* Added @file to file description, it seems that it should be explicitely decalred for file descriptions, otherwise doxygen will think that the comment document the first class, variabled, function, ... that is in that file.
* Removed some empty comments
* Removed some ?>

Added following groups:
* ExternalStorage
* JobQueue
* MaintenanceLanguage

One more thing: there are still a lot of warnings when generating the doc.

a15c419b3d Remove ?>'s from files. They're pointless, and just asking for people to mess with the files and add trailing whitespace. (Yes, I looked over every one and reverted those that were bogus. Slash-enter a million times in less worked well enough, although it was a bit mind-numbing.) 2007-06-29 01:19:14 +00:00

f88c771756 The war on redundant ampersand usage!
* Convert "$dbw =& wfGetDB( DB_MASTER );" --> "$dbw = wfGetDB( DB_MASTER );"
* convert "$skin =& $wgUser->getSkin();" --> "$skin = $wgUser->getSkin();"

For the time being have not changed the function definitions of wfGetDB() or User::getSkin() [i.e. they are still both return-by-ref], so as to ensure the interface does not change for extensions [some of which may still be trying to run on PHP4 environments]. However presumably at some point this can be changed too.

Also includes tiny tweak to newlines in parserTests - will show 1 rather than 2 newlines between the "Reading tests from" strings when in quiet mode.

a78478c449 For the maintenance/ directory files:
* Removing unused local vars.
* Removing unused global declarations.
* removing one or two pass-by-refs parameter declarations where not required by PHP5.
* Adding some local variable declarations / initializations (initialized to either to array(), null) to keep static code analyzer happy.
* Changing lines like this: "extract( $dbw->tableNames( 'page', 'archive' ) );" to be like this: "list ($page, $archive) = $dbw->tableNamesN( 'page', 'archive' );".
* Add one or two braces to if-else blocks.
