PHP had a nasty bug related to late/early binding and referenced at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=56776 . The workaround was to add some .deps.php files to make sure code is loaded early. Compared to other wikis, it has an excellent range of features and support for high-traffic websites using multiple servers (Wikimedia sites peak in the 100K+ requests per second range as of January 2012).
