Wikidata is at 51.3% of its maximum value (see [1]), so we still have comfortable time to make this change, but it will inevitably be necessary and there is no point in postponing this change into the future. The autoincrement value will not get smaller. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also since rc only stores stuff for 30 days, the table is not that big.
